The 5-Minute Morning Glow Routine for Busy Moms
From Carpool to Confident, Vol. 1
Most mornings start the same way — someone needs help with shoes, someone else is asking for another snack, and the baby is already sticky, somehow. Somewhere in between all of that, I’m supposed to “prioritize skincare.”
For a long time, I thought if I couldn’t do the full routine, it wasn’t worth doing anything at all. But that kind of thinking doesn’t survive long when you’ve got three kids under seven and a clock that moves faster than you do.
These days, if everyone’s dressed, semi-fed, and I can see my tinted SPF for busy mornings rolling around in the cupholder, that’s the win.
A Routine That’s Barely a Routine
My mornings look like a relay race with a side of coffee. But even on the craziest days, a few quick things help me feel a little more like myself before the day takes over.
I’ll splash my face with water or use a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin if I’m lucky. Moisturizer goes on while I’m cutting up fruit or reminding someone that toothpaste goes in their mouth, not on the counter.
And SPF — always. I keep one by the sink and one in the car, because real life doesn’t wait for a vanity mirror. If I’m putting it on at a stoplight, that still counts. (This one has been my favorite lately — it goes on fast, doesn’t sting my eyes, and actually looks good without makeup: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen SPF 50.)
The “Good Enough” Glow
This isn’t about perfect skin or influencer routines. It’s about real skincare for real life — brushing your teeth, remembering the diaper bag, and giving your skin thirty seconds of attention before the world starts spinning.
Some mornings, I do it all. Other mornings, I don’t. Both are fine. Both are proof that you showed up.
Confidence doesn’t come from flawless skin — it comes from knowing you’re doing your best, even when the best looks a little messy. And if you can do that with a smudge of SPF and a deep breath before carpool, you’re already glowing.
Real-Life Favorites
If you’re trying to simplify your own mornings, here’s what’s actually working for me right now:
- Cleanser: gentle, no-fragrance, the one that doesn’t make my face feel tight — CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
- Moisturizer: light enough for Florida heat but still hydrating — La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer
- Tinted SPF: the one currently living in my car’s cupholder — La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen SPF 50
No sponsorships, just things that keep me sane.
